Microsoft says computers are running slower after Windows 11 update: How to solve issue?

November 14, 2022  19:26

The American corporation Microsoft has officially admitted that after the update 22H2 in the operating system Windows 11 there were problems with the performance of computers, especially during the video-games procession.

The proposed solutions do not completely solve the problem, and users have other complaints in addition to this problem.

The company acknowledged the problem only after many users began to complain en masse that their computers were slower than before after the 22H2 update.

Video card manufacturer Nvidia urgently released a beta driver to fix the problem. However, Microsoft representatives clarified that the issue of personal computers slowing down affects a much wider range of hardware, and the problem will not be solved by drivers alone, Bleeping Computer reported.

Why the computer is slowing down?

Some games and applications in version 22H2 of Windows 11 may be slower than expected, Microsoft said in a statement.

It also said that because of a bug in the update, games, and apps automatically include graphics processor performance tuning features that were not intended for use by PC owners, causing such problems.

Microsoft suggested solutions

Previously, the company suggested disabling some features of the Windows 11 operating system to improve PC performance while gaming.

The company noted that according to tests conducted by its experts, the computer performance is positively affected by disabling Memory Integrity and Virtual Machine Platform features. For this reason, Microsoft recommended that these features be disabled during the game and enabled again after the game is over.

However, this version doesn't really solve the problem completely, moreover, it also contains security risks, which Microsoft itself warned about, stating that when these two functions are disabled, the computer becomes vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Users have other complaints

Users also complain that Microsoft now advertises some of its services in Windows 11. The ad appears when users click the Start menu. Many users complain that Windows 11 gets worse after each update.

Windows 11 is the latest major version of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system, released in 2021. Oct. 5. It is a free upgrade to its predecessor, Windows 10, available to any device that meets the system requirements of Windows 11.
