WhatsApp receiveս new feature: Good news for those who often receive spam

February 12, 2024  15:07

The popular WhatsApp messenger has received a new feature: from now on you can block spam directly from the lock screen - you don’t even need to open suspicious messages. This update will help in the fight against spam messages - both advertising and fraudulent ones, which have become more and more frequent lately.

Now, when receiving an unwanted message, a user can simply block it along with the sender, without the need to unlock the phone and open the WhatsApp application.

When a spam message notification appears on your lock screen, long-pressing the notification will give you access to a menu with a variety of options, including the ability to instantly block the sender of a suspicious message. There is also the option to report the sender.

It is noteworthy that WhatsApp shows a warning about possible spam under any messages from unknown numbers. The app also offers the ability to pre-block some contacts. To do this, In the More Options section on the home page, select Settings > Privacy > Blocked Contacts > Add > Search or select the contact you want to block.

In the near future, WhatsApp will receive another interesting innovation - support for cross-platform messaging, which will allow users from different platforms to send text messages to WhatsApp users. In the app's home interface, users will have access to a "Third Party Chats" section, which will display messages received from users on other platforms and separate them from in-app chats protected by WhatsApp's E2EE encryption.
