Communities, surveys, video calls for 32 people: WhatsApp announces major update

November 3, 2022  16:17

WhatsApp Messenger has announced the launch of a new major update that will bring several important new features to users, including the Communities feature, polls, and the ability to make video calls with up to 32 participants.

The developers of WhatsApp had announced the Communities function back in April. And today it has started rolling out to users all over the world. However, it will not appear to everyone at the same time. WhatsApp announced that Communities will be rolled out gradually and will be accessible to all users over the next few months.

The Communities feature is designed to simplify communication in groups. It enables users to bring separate groups under one roof and manage them more effectively.

Users will be able to receive updates sent to the entire community and easily follow group discussions. Admins will also have more opportunities in Communities. They will be able to send announcements to everyone and decide which groups to add to the given community.

In addition, the developers have made several improvements to the way WhatsApp groups work, regardless of whether they are part of the community or not. Chat requests, video calls for 32 participants, and groups for 1,024 people are already accessible to users.
