8 GB RAM, USB-C port, 10x zoom camera: What features will iPhone 15 Pro have?

October 26, 2022  14:21

The iPhone 15 Pro smartphones, which will be released in 2023, are likely to have more RAM, a USB-C port, and several improved cameras with 10x zoom. The Taiwanese research company TrendForce made such a prediction.

According to the company data, the iPhone 15 series will consist of four models, just like the iPhone 14 series. And just like this year, only two Pro models will get Apple's latest A17 Bionic processor, whereas the standard models will get A16 processors.

TrendForce predicts that the 15 Pro will have up to 8 GB of RAM, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro models have only 6 GB of RAM. Next year's standard models will probably still have 6GB of RAM.

Earlier this year, the European Union (EU) decided that one standard connector should be used for mobile devices in the EU, and by the fall of 2024, chargers, headphones, speakers, cameras, and all other devices should have a USB-C port. Therefore, we should wait for such a connector to appear in iPhones in 2023.

As Bloomberg reports, citing Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg “Joz” Joswiak, Apple has already confirmed that it will abandon its own Lightning Port and replace it with USB Type-C.

As for the cameras, experts predict that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a telephoto lens with a periscope function that provides at least 10x optical zoom instead of the current 3x. The Pro models will likely also have an upgraded main lens with eight plastic lenses (8P).

According to TrendForce, the iPhone 15 models will still have a Qualcomm modem to provide 5G connectivity, as the millimeter range performance of Apple's own modem is not satisfactory. And in 2024, Apple might introduce its own 5G modem, but the iPhone 15 series will most likely be released earlier—in September 2023.
