Apple has unveiled a tantalizing glimpse into the highly anticipated iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Yesterday, the tech giant released the fourth beta of iOS 17 to developers, and within the update lie hints of a groundbreaking addition to the next-generation Pro iPhone models: the Action button, MacRumors reported.

The Action button is rumored to be a physical button that will replace the Ring/Silent switch on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro series. Its functionality is expected to extend beyond traditional device controls, offering users quick access to a plethora of customizable functions and settings without needing to unlock the device or navigate through various apps.

Developers digging into the iOS 17 beta 4 code found nine distinct options that users may be able to tailor to their preferences and assign to different actions. Though the code only provided names for these features, experts have been able to deduce their potential uses:

  1. Accessibility: This option appears to grant users access to a range of accessibility features like VoiceOver, Zoom, AssistiveTouch, and more, making the iPhone 15 Pro series more inclusive and user-friendly.
  2. Shortcuts: Building on the success of the Apple Watch Ultra's Action button, this option would empower users to run personalized shortcuts, allowing them to send messages, control smart home devices, and perform other tasks with ease.
  3. Silent Mode: Similar to the current Ring/Silent switch, the Action button is said to enable users to toggle silent mode on or off, muting or unmuting the ringer and alerts effortlessly.
  4. Camera: With this option, users could instantly launch the Camera app or capture photos and videos with a single press of the Action button, perfect for those spontaneous moments.
  5. Flashlight: Conveniently switch the flashlight on or off with the Action button's dedicated option, providing quick illumination when needed.
  6. Focus: This intriguing option is believed to let users activate or deactivate a Focus mode, potentially offering enhanced productivity and minimized distractions.
  7. Magnifier: A highly useful feature, the Magnifier option would likely transform the iPhone's camera into a magnifying glass, allowing users to zoom in on small text or objects with ease.
  8. Translate: The Action button could also facilitate swift access to the Translate app, making language barriers a thing of the past by enabling instant conversations or text translations.
  9. Voice Memos: Finally, the Action button's Voice Memos option would simplify the process of recording voice memos, making it effortless to capture important thoughts and reminders.

As of now, Apple has not officially unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro series, but industry insiders expect the announcement and launch to adhere to the company's usual September timeframe. If the rumors are accurate, the Action button could be a game-changer, setting the iPhone 15 Pro apart from its predecessors and solidifying its position as a cutting-edge device for tech enthusiasts and everyday users alike.

The presentation of the Phone 15 series of smartphones is expected in September 2023. According to leaked information, there will be a shortage of Pro versions of the iPhone. According to other sources, the Pro models may go on sale a month later than the base model. There is also information that Apple will increase the prices of iPhones.
