Samsung has unveiled 14nm LPDDR5X DRAM, which can now boldly be called the fastest operating memory. LPDDR5X was recently tested to achieve 8.5 Gbps, surpassing the record speed of 7.5 Gbps achieved in March of this year.

According to the manufacturer, the new DRAM is 1.3 times faster than LPDDR5 DRAM, which reached a maximum speed of 6.4 Gbps.

The new Samsung LPDDR5X DRAM is expected to be the first to get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 single-chip system. On the assurance of experts, the new memory will provide users with better performance in games, image processing and applications that use the capabilities of artificial intelligence.

Power consumption LPDDR5X, according to the manufacturer, reduced by 20%, which would certainly increase the attraction of the product for consumers.

LPDDR5X technology is actually not new: there are quite a few smartphones with this platform on the market, but the new memory will achieve even higher speeds, and this will require only minimal internal redesign.

The new LPDDR5X can be used not only in smartphones, but also in PCs, servers and even cars. Already today, demand for low-power and high-speed DRAMs is growing for the automotive industry, as well as in the manufacture of lightweight laptops.
