Apple iPhone 17 smartphones, which are planned to be released in 2025, will receive screens with a larger diagonal and non-standard aspect ratio. This was reported by Ross Young, analyst and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus expected in 2024 will have 6.12 and 6.69-inch screens, respectively, while the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus will increase to 6.27 and 6.86 inches, so the difference would be 2.5%. The aspect ratio will also change: today, 19.5:9 is considered relevant, and new smartphones will have a ratio of 19.6:9.

There are also reports that the base iPhone displays to be produced in 2025 will receive an LTPO substrate to support ProMotion's adaptive refresh rate technology. Due to this, screens will be able to refresh at a frequency of 1 to 120 Hz, depending on the usage scenario.

Yang also reiterated his earlier claim that the iPhone 17 Pro models will be the first phones to feature Face ID technology placed under the display, sitting alongside a hole-shaped cutout for the front-facing camera.

The release of iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 will have to wait a long time. However, if you already want to get rid of the old device and switch to a new one, then experts recommend paying attention to last year's iPhone 13 mini. There is an opinion that it is not inferior to this year's model, iPhone 14, but at the same time it is cheaper. Furthermore, the iPhone 13 mini appeared on The Verge magazine's list of the best phones of 2022.
