Apple releases Apple Music Classical for Android before iPad or Mac apps

Apple Music subscribers who also have Android devices will now be able to download the Apple Music Classical app to their devices from Google Play. iPad and Mac owners have not yet received versions of Apple Music Classical.

In 2021, Apple announced the purchase of Primephonic, a classical music streaming service, which the company said would integrate Apple Music with a new app by the end of 2022, The Verge reported.

The iOS version of the Apple Music Classical app was released a few months late on March 27. It allows users to search for classical music that the Apple Music interface does not provide. From Tuesday, owners of Android devices can already use this feature.

Like the iOS app, the Android version of Apple Music Classical does not show the entire Apple Music catalog when searching, but is limited to classical music only. The developers have also improved the search, optimizing it for classical music: it is now possible to search for music by composer, composition or artist name.

Apple Music Classical can be accessed with an Apple Music or Apple One subscription. The app provides ad-free listening to classical music in Apple Lossless format (up to 192kHz/24bit), as well as thousands of recordings with Spatial Audio support. In addition, the app has access to Primephonic's detailed music metadata, making it easy to browse its vast library.
