Why you should not buy a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti video card?

The new GeForce RTX 4060 Ti video card will be on sale very soon, but many negative reviews have already been published about it, the authors of which urge you not to buy it.

As the DTF website informs, the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti with 8 GB of memory was tested in 15 modern games with different resolutions and graphics settings. The results of the experiment conducted by the TechSpot portal showed that the new video card has no obvious advantages over its competitors. At a resolution of 1080 pixels, it showed an average FPS (frames per second) result that was equal to that of the RTX 3070 video card. The result of NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti is slightly better than AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and RTX 3060 Ti.

And when switching to a resolution of 1440 pixels, the performance of the RTX 4060 Ti deteriorated even more, falling behind the RTX 3070. Moreover, the new RTX 4060 Ti shows an average of 38 FPS when playing games at 4K resolution, which means that it is not suitable for playing games with high graphics settings comfortably.

When the ray tracing function is turned on, the tests also recorded very mediocre results; in most cases, the video card fell behind the RTX 3070 and only slightly surpassed the RTX 3060 Ti. The only exception was Cyberpunk 2077, where the RTX 4060 Ti outperformed the RTX 3060 Ti by 18% at 1080p resolution.

Experts consider that one of the main disadvantages of RTX 4060 Ti is the lack of memory. 8 GB is not enough to provide good performance in modern games with high graphics settings. Hardware Unboxed's tests also confirmed this.

Of course, the new RTX 4060 Ti also has its positive aspects. These include, in particular, the low level of noise and temperature. According to TechSpot, during heavy work, the maximum temperature of the video card body did not exceed 62 degrees Celsius, the fan worked at 1500 rpm. The video card is distinguished by its high energy efficiency and consumes only 165 W during heavy work, which can also be considered an advantage.

These advantages, however, are not enough for experts to recommend buying the new RTX 4060 Ti. Many industry experts, including Steve Burke of the Gamers Nexus YouTube channel, advise against buying the video card because of its price ($400). According to experts, with its capabilities, NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti would be worth its price if it costs around $300.
