Elon Musk keeps his promise and leaves the position of CEO of Twitter: His replacement is a woman

Elon Musk is making good on the promise he made to his followers a few months ago and is stepping down as CEO of Twitter as he has found another CEO. Musk will remain the executive chairman of the board of directors and chief technical officer.

“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops,” he wrote on Twitter.

Musk bought Twitter at the end of October 2022 and has been the executive director of the company until now. In December, he polled among registered Twitter users on whether he should step down as head of the social network. He promised to stick to the results of the survey.

During the poll 57.5% of respondents voted in favor of Musk's departure from the position of head of Twitter, 42.5% against. In total, about 17 million people took part in the survey. Then various speculations about who will replace Musk began to appear in the mass media. Musk himself has announced that he will step down as CEO of Twitter when he finds "someone stupid enough" for the position.

Later, Musk posted a humorous post on the social network, posting a photo of his dog, Floki, and writing that it was appointed the new director of the social network.

Now, it seems, he has found a real replacement for himself. The name of the new head of Twitter has not been mentioned, but according to The Wall Street Journal, it will be the head of the advertising department of NBCUniversal, Linda Iaccarino.

According to The Verge, Linda Iaccarino, in conversations with colleagues, has repeatedly expressed interest in interacting with Twitter, especially after the announcement of the cooperation between NBC and this social network in the framework of coverage of the upcoming Olympics. Recently, Iaccarino invited Elon Musk to participate in an industry conference held in Miami, which she hosted, and then interviewed him. In addition, both Iaccarino and Musk share common political views, which may make it easier for them to manage the social network.
