Only one of the iPhone 15 series models may get a camera with 5x-6x optical zoom

Of Apple's iPhone 15 series, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max may get a camera with 5x or 6x optical zoom. Ice Universe, which is considered a reliable insider, informs about this.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max has 3x optical zoom. If Ice Universe's information is confirmed, this year the iPhone 15 Pro Max will get a periscope camera that will double the optical zoom.

Back in July 2022, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will get a periscope camera, which will provide 5x-6x optical zoom. He also said that next year it should be expected to appear also in the iPhone 16 Pro.

For comparison, today's leading Android smartphones have 5x-10x optical zoom.

It is expected that Apple will present its iPhone 15 series of smartphones in September.

Earlier, NEWS.am Tech reported that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models will not receive one of the new technologies that have been actively discussed recently – the one full touch button on the side for adjusting the volume. Instead, they will get regular buttons. Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple has abandoned the idea for now due to technical issues.
