Apple to release updated AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C connector: When will it go on sale?

In the second or third quarter of this year, Apple may release an updated AirPods Pro 2 headset.

But unlike the model introduced last year, which has its trademark Lightning connector, the updated one will most likely have a USB-C connector, predicts well-known TF Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo.

As GMSarena.com reports, the company recently released a preview of iOS 16.4, which also mentions the new AirPods with model code A3048 and a new case—model A2968—for AirPods.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, it could be a new version of the AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C port. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be the same AirPods Pro 2 released last year, just with a USB-C connector, or whether it will be an entirely new model with additional hardware improvements.

In its new devices, Apple is already ditching its own Lightning connector in favor of USB-C. The new series of iPhone 15 smartphones, which is expected at the end of this year, will already use a USB-C connector.
