Adobe introduces AI image generator: It doesn’t infringe the copyrights of artists

March 22, 2023  14:08

Adobe has introduced the Firefly AI image generator. Unlike many other similar generators, this one does not infringe the copyrights of artists, as it was trained on images whose authors have given permission to use their work.

Firefly currently includes two tools, the first working much like the popular DALL-E or Midjourney neural networks and can create images based on a text description.

The second one is more like an advanced version of WordArt – with its help you can creatively decorate the inscriptions.

To make these tools easy to use, Adobe offers built-in options for Art Styles, Lighting, and Aspect Ratio: instead of describing how you want your image to be styled, you can use these out-of-the-box options. Moreover, they can also be applied to existing images without the need to generate new ones. The text tool also has built-in options with effects and background colors.

Future projects

In the future, Adobe plans to launch even more AI tools that will also make it possible to edit images, redraw parts of it, change the style or colors, change individual objects or their environment. All this can be done with the help of text descriptions. The company also promised to introduce an image generator from 3D models, a sketch-to-image converter, and many other tools.

Adobe also plans to give artists the ability to train Firefly on their own paintings, allowing them to create images in a completely unique style.

Later, Adobe also plans to integrate Firefly into its applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. The tool will have a simple visual interface and will be easy to work with.

It is also expected that Photoshop will have AI-generated fills, Illustrator will be able to generate vector variations of hand-drawn sketches, and Premiere Pro will allow you to change the color or style of an image using text descriptions.

True, it is not yet known when all these functions will be available.

How to access Firefly?

So far, Firefly is in beta testing and is only available on the Adobe website. However, not everyone can access these tools so far - first you have to sign up and wait for an invitation.
