The new iPhone ranked sixth among Apple’s most powerful devices

Developers of the popular benchmark AnTuTu have updated their October performance ranking of Apple devices, adding the newly released iPhone 17 series, unveiled last month. Tablets powered by the M5 and M4 chips continue to dominate the chart, while the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max with the A19 Pro processor landed in sixth place. This shows how powerful Apple’s tablets have become, pushing smartphones out of the top positions.

Ranking Leaders: M5 Tablets Dominate
The October 2025 top 10 is led by the new 13-inch iPad Pro featuring the Apple M5 chip, scoring an average of 3.18 million points in AnTuTu. This model leads thanks to the optimized M5 architecture, delivering superior performance in graphics and AI-related tasks. The 11-inch version of the same tablet ranks second with 3.08 million points, making it an ideal choice for mobile professionals.

The third and fourth places go to previous flagships — the 11-inch iPad Pro M4 (2.93 million) and its 13-inch version (2.91 million). Released in 2024, these devices demonstrate the longevity of Apple’s chips — even a year later, they compete closely with new models. The 13-inch iPad Air M3 rounds out the top five with 2.4 million points, underlining the “Air” line’s strength for everyday use.

iPhone 17 Pro Max in Sixth: Powerful, But Not a Leader
The flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max with the A19 Pro chip scored 2.39 million points, ranking fifth. This is an impressive result given the smartphone’s focus on energy efficiency and mobility: the A19 Pro handles demanding games, video editing, and Apple Intelligence AI functions without overheating. The compact iPhone 17 Pro, with the same chip, follows closely with 2.34 million points, showing identical performance in a smaller form factor.

The seventh place and below are occupied by the iPad Pro M2 (12.9-inch, 2.25 million), iPad Air M3 (11-inch, 2.25 million), and 11-inch iPad Pro M2 (2.17 million). Dropping out of the top 10 are the 13-inch iPad Air M2 and the base iPhone 17, both edged out by newer models.

The AnTuTu ranking highlights a clear trend: Apple tablets with M-series chips now outperform iPhones in raw computing power, though the iPhone remains the king of portability. The A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 15–20% faster than the A18 Pro in the iPhone 16, but it still trails the M5 in multitasking capability.
