Нow default apps for calls and SMS can be customized on iPhone

Apple has released the first beta version of iOS 18.2 for developers, which will please iPhone users, because in addition to the new features of Apple Intelligence, it enables easier management of standard applications. One of the most notable changes is a special section in the settings that allows you to select your preferred apps for calls and messages.

Now users around the world will be able to manage their default applications through the Default Applications section, which is available in the Settings menu. Then, in the Applications menu, you can select the most frequently used ones, such as email, browser, keyboard. In addition, for the first time it will be possible to customize the calling and messaging applications.

The set of available categories may vary by region. For example, in the US beta version of iOS 18.2, the following categories are available: Email, Messages, Calls, Call Filtering, Browser, Passwords & Codes, Keyboard. Additional options may be available in European Union countries due to local regulations. Apple is making this change at the request of local regulatory authorities in order to offer users more customization options for devices.

Currently, the iOS 18.2 beta version is only available for devices that support Apple Intelligence features. However, in future updates, the new section is expected to be automatically available for iPhones that do not have support for Apple Intelligence features.
