What risks may be hidden in repairing gadgets in unofficial service centers?

Smartphone and laptop repairs should be carried out exclusively in official service centers, since work in unauthorized workshops can not only worsen the condition of the device, but also lead to new problems. This opinion was expressed by Stanislav Gavrilov, head of the MTS after-sales service center.

As RIA Novosti reports, unofficial services often use non-original spare parts and do not have the necessary equipment and qualifications for high-quality repairs. According to Gavrilov, this can lead to the fact that after repair, the device will work worse or even new malfunctions will occur.

There is a common misconception that authorized service centers seek to recognize breakdowns as “not covered by warranty” and charge a fee for repairs. Gavrilov refuted this myth, emphasizing that in most cases the cost of repairs is covered by the manufacturer, which makes the repair process more transparent and convenient for the client.

The expert strongly recommends contacting authorized service centers that use original spare parts and procedures approved by the manufacturer. Engineers at such centers undergo special training and have in-depth knowledge of the specifics of working with certain devices, which significantly improves the quality of repairs and reduces the risk of repeated breakdowns.

Before visiting a service center, Gavrilov advises trying to reboot or update the device to eliminate possible software failures. It is also recommended to remove all locks, such as passwords or Face ID, make a backup copy of the data and close access to applications containing personal information.
